Instructions

  1. 1
    1. Cut your tofu into slices that are about 1 inch thick, or adjust the size to your preference. Place the slices on a paper towel to dry.
  2. 2
    2. While the tofu is drying, mix together the soy sauce, sweetener, gochugaru, sake, mirin, and dashida in a bowl. Adjust the flavors according to your taste.
  3. 3
    3. Dice your green and yellow onions, and jalapeños. Mince the garlic as well.
  4. 4
    4. Heat some oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the tofu slices and cook until both sides are golden brown. Once done, remove the tofu from the pan and set it aside.
  5. 5
    5. In the same pan, add a bit more oil if needed, then add the diced yellow onions, jalapeños, and minced garlic. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning.
  6. 6
    6. Once the onions become somewhat transparent, pour in the sauce you prepared in step 2.
  7. 7
    7. Stir everything together, adding water as needed to achieve your desired consistency.
  8. 8
    8. Finally, return the tofu to the pan and mix everything together.
